iPhone, iPad and Mac users, as well as almost every techie on the planet, are anxiously anticipating the big Apple announcement happening on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California.
The company has been holding this event around this time of the year since 2011. Every year, as the announcement date draws near, rumors abound as to what the news will be. This year is no different, and even Siri isn’t helping. Are they releasing a new iPhone 6? A new iPad? What about the Apple TV? We’ve rounded up the gossips, and here’s everything you need to know.
There’s a pattern to Apple’s annual announcements. In even years, there’s always a big iPhone release — iPhone 4, 5, 6. In odd-numbered years, the iPhone gets an upgrade and an “s” at the end: iPhone 3Gs, 4s, 5s. Many believe that unless the bigwigs at Apple break this rhythm, the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be released on Sept. 9. Of course, this new iPhone will come with some tweaks and upgrades. It is rumored that the new iPhone will be thicker to avoid last year’s “Bendgate,” and will add a new “Force Touch” feature, which is already being used in the Apple Watch and the latest Macbook. It will possibly come in another color. Rose gold, perhaps?
The iPad is reported to be falling behind in sales, as compared to its phone counterpart. So it is expected that Apple will up their iPad game and release a newer, fancier, and tougher version. Tech analysts believe it will be called the iPad Pro, and if the rumors are correct, it will be amazing. A 12.9″ tablet with an ultra high-resolution display, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, with USB ports, add-on keyboard, and stylus. It will, pound for pound, be the new laptop.
New Apple TV
The Apple TV didn’t quite hit it with the consumers, but the new and improved one, if the hearsays are to be believed, will make you want to buy one for sure. The latest additions will be Siri and a new Apple TV remote, so you can control TV, music and games conveniently. Another rumored addition is the App Store for the TV, allowing you to increase channel and content options. This could mean that the TV can also be a gaming device, with downloadable games at your fingertips.
Apple execs will definitely not forget to discuss new features and upgrades of their new Apple Watch. And they will also likely dish out details on the new iOS 9 software for the iPhone and iPad.
Excited already? Apple is live streaming the event on their website for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and–for the first time in years–PC users.
