Bandai Namco Pictures registered a trademark on February 9 for “Aikatsu! Stars!.” The trademark is for animation, games, character shows, books, and music, as well as merchandise like food and drinks.
The first 50-episode Aikatsu! television anime series premiered in October 2012, and the fourth “season” (fourth year of broadcast) premiered in October. The franchise’s first anime film opened in Japan in December 2014, and the second anime film, Aikatsu! Music Award: Minna de Shō o Moraima SHOW!, opened in Japan last August. A new anime film will open this summer.
Bandai’s original Aikatsu! arcade card game began operation in Japan in October 2012. The franchise has also inspired four Nintendo 3DS games.
Bandai Namco Pictures officially launched last April. The company handles Sunrise‘s intellectual property aimed at children and family, such as the Aikatsu! anime.
