Ever feel like you need a nap during the workday? Aqil Anindhityo wants to help you achieve that goal, with his new product called Schnap. It’s a portable hammock than can be easily set up under a desk. The 19-year-old design student from Toronto, Canada, created it for a recent design project, and it’s kind of amazing. He was inspired by his own late nights working at school.
“My university is open for 24 hours in the winter semester, and I met a lot of friends that stayed overnight to work on their project,” he tells SELF via email. “The lack of a comfortable medium to sleep on inspired me to design this product. Many students are likely to sleep while sitting or not sleep at all. But I know that taking a quick nap is important.”

The tagline for Schnap is “a nap in a snap,” and it seems pretty easy to install, nap, and then take down. The product conveniently fits in a small, fabric pouch. Inside the package is the hammock itself, two table protectors, and two clamps to set it up. To install, simply place the protectors on opposite edges of the table and tighten the clamps around them. Then, string the hammock between the two clamps. Magically, the cotton pouch becomes a pillow if you flip it inside out and stuff it with, say, a sweatshirt.
Anindhityo says he’s taken a four-hour nap in his Schnap before, and it was a comfy and peaceful experience.
“It was pretty quiet and calming and a perfect place to sleep,” he says. “Most likely because it’s located under the table. I personally think it’s comfortable. I asked my friends to try it and they also say so. Since I’m a student, it was developed with the idea of staying overnight at school to finish works, but this can be applied almost anywhere. The Schnap can be used in the office, school, home, almost anywhere that has a stable, table-like surface.”

The unfortunate part: The Schnap isn’t available to the public just yet. Anindhityo says it’s still in development and research, but they’re working to make it available for purchase online soon. He says people can keep up with developments on the Schnap’s Facebook page.
For now, we’ll just enjoy sweet daydreams of dozing off in a Schnap between meetings.
