French company Vivendi is apparently keen on the video games industry again. This week the company announced that it has bought equity stakes in mobile game developer and publisher Gameloft and international video game developer and publisher Ubisoft.
Vivendi has purchased an equity stake of 6.6 percent in Ubisoft, to the tune of roughly €140 million, while it has bought around 6.2 percent of Gameloft for around €5 million.
Vivendi is no stranger to investing in the video game sector; it ran Vivendi Games up until 2008, and was a longtime investor in Activision. In 2013 Activision CEO Bobby Kotick and a group of investors regained control of Activision by paying Vivendi $8 billion.
